All Things FSS -
Flats Sequencing
System (FSS)

The USPS® is deploying a new technology that will boost efficiencies in the processing, distribution,
and delivery of flats–the Flats Sequencing System (FSS). FSS will automatically sort flat-sized mail
into delivery point sequence at high speeds. The efficiencies gained by employing FSS are influencing
many changes within both the Postal Service® and the mailing industry. Come see this new
equipment in action!

Industry Speaker:   Joseph E. Schick, Director of Postal Affairs, Quad/Graphics, Inc.

Joe is the primary liaison with the USPS on all matters affecting Quad/Graphics
and their customers. Joe joined Quad/Graphics in 1981 and had worked in numerous
areas of manufacturing before being named to his current position. He has received
numerous awards from the USPS, including the Advertising Mail Industry Excellence
Award, the International Mailing Industry Leadership Award and the Postal Technology
Award, and has served as Chairman of the Mailers Technical Advisory Committee
(MTAC). He currently represents Quad on the Board of Directors of the Association for
Postal Commerce (PostCom), and the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA), as well
as serving as Vice-Chair of the International Mailers’ Action Group (IMAG).

The NIPCC is organized at the local community level to:

Establish regular communication between postal customers and local postal managers.

Provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas and suggestions.

Ensure that postal customers are aware of the latest in postal services and rates.

Create a better understanding of the Postal Service through business meetings, mailer clinics, mailing seminars, tours of postal facilities and visits to other customers' plants.

Provide information so that customers can make the most effective and efficient use of postal services and products.

The Postal Customer Councils help keep customers appraised of changes in service, make suggestions or improvements to their local Postal carriers, and give customers a role in the Postal decision-making process.
